The 63rd Annual Sucker Day Music, Arts, and Craft Show
June 2nd, 2020
NIXA, MO—The Nixa Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to altogether cancel Nixa Sucker Days for 2020 due to the CDC Guidelines involving “safe social distancing.” We respect the current guidelines and do not want to jeopardize the health and safety of all those involved. The original dates of May 15–16 was (tentatively) postponed to August 7–8 in hopes we could bring you the 63rd Annual Nixa Sucker Days in its entirety. The current recommendations would make it impossible to host the event as planned.
The Nixa Chamber of Commerce staff, along with several area businesses and organizations, rebooted the annual event in 2019. Sucker Days 2019 included many new elements that made Sucker Days more expansive, fun, entertaining, engaging, magical and unique than past years. The 2019 event lined the streets of Downtown Nixa with tens of thousands of happy people. We would have to eliminate many of the new elements to provide a safe social distancing environment, and by doing so, it would not be Sucker Days.
All sponsors, crafters, food trucks and vendors included in the now-canceled 2020 event will have a pre-reserved spot May 21–22, 2021. If further arrangements are needed, contact the Nixa Chamber of Commerce for additional discussion or information.
We regret this decision had to be made, but in deference to public safety, it was necessary. However, the Nixa Chamber of Commerce is considering doing an event later this summer (options and logistics are currently under evaluation) that would allow everyone to follow safe social distancing recommendations while celebrating our residents, businesses and first responders.
Please be patient as we assess this very dynamic and fluid situation. The most updated information is always available at nixachamber.com.
